How Does Elecbrakes Work?

Elecbrakes is a trailer mounted brake controller that connects to the trailer’s existing electrical circuits. This can be wired in with a user who has electrical know-how or by an auto-electrician. The unit can also be connected very easily with our “Plug & Play” adaptor which requires no wiring knowledge. With either method,the unit is powered through both the tail light circuit and the brake light circuit.

The trailer brakes are activated by the Elecbrakes unit when the driver applies the brake pedal in the tow vehicle. The trailer brakes are applied with a proportional degree of force based on how hard the tow vehicle is braked.

What Happens If The Bluetooth Connection Drops Out?

Elecbrakes searches at 2/100th of a second. The unit will reconnect, however the loss of Bluetooth connectivity does not impact the ability of the trailer to brake. Elecbrakes always brakes the trailer and will continue to work at the last settings set. The only functionality that would be hampered in this case would be the program change and manual override button from the remote. If the connection was to drop out the driver could pull over and reconnect. But it is very rare that this would happen.
